Hello world!
Well, this is my very first blogging entry! I was thoroughly inspired by David Warlick in his address to Richland Two and by Will Richardson’s book, “Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts”! So here goes!
I used BlackBoard consistently last summer to communicate with our brand new faculty and staff at Sandlapper Elementary. I see so many similarities with this blogging process.
After MUCH research (I’m embarrassed to tell you how many hours I’ve spent on the computer this weekend), I found this www.edublogs.org website the easiest to create a new blog.
My main purpose with this blog is to create a place for the Sandlapper staff to communicate . . . particularly during the summer. I see many implications for conversation, staff development and even use with elementary students . . . but I am concerned with TIME. I do believe that the information landscape is changing and as professionals, we must keep up! However, we must continue to somewhat protect our students and to utilize valuable time to most effectively optimize learning!
By the way, click on the little mp3 audio icon above . . . had fun creating a little audio intro with “Mixcraft.” (www.acoustica.com) Seems to be one of the comparable programs to Apple’s Garage Band. I may be able to use this with later podcasts . . . stay tuned!

Linda,
Great job! I think that your blog is going to be a powerful tool for you as you communicate with your staff and the rest of the world about the great things that are going on at Sandlapper.
Hey! Great job! Could you tell me how you accessed the website that you used to creat this blog. My computer is blocking it.
